Personal Branding
Creating a personal brand as a graphic designer is about blending creativity and strategy. Start by defining your unique style and design approach. Develop a logo, choose colors, and play with typography to craft a visual identity that speaks to your audience. Keep refining and evolving your brand to stand out in the competitive design world, showing clients and peers what sets you apart.
How it started
At the beginning of this project, I decided to start out by creating different logos that would incorporate my monogram. I wanted my monogram to combine the two letters into a simple and modern design. I tried to come up with a variety of designs that were all unique in their own way, then I went back and added my name and discipline to match.
Colors
My favorite color is blue, so when deciding on what color to use for my personal branding I knew that I wanted to use a shade of blue. I looked through a few different shades before choosing this one, I like that it isn’t too dark, and it stands out great against a white background.
Typography
For the typography, I wanted to use a modern sans serif typeface because it felt clean, professional and is easily legible. The bold weight isn’t too bold, and the thinness of light gives the design a nice contrast and adds variety overall.
Digital Designs
I then took my best sketch designs and created digital iterations of them. I knew the type of monogram that I was aiming towards, so I focused on that design with different variations and came up with a couple other ideas that I had come up with at this point of the process.
Final Logo Design
For the final logo design, I chose the monogram and then changed my typography to a typeface that appeared less aggressive and didn’t have the same sharp angles as my original digital iteration had featured.
